Co Op possibilities

There have apparently been some conversations between St Francis & Suttons Bay about cooping in Boys Soccer -- which is good news.

The bad news is that with the MHSAA losing their appeal, the athletic directors are too busy scrambling to rearrange schedules to get anything done in time for the 2007 season...

So...here's to hoping something happens in the future, though pressure will need to be maintained.

Finally an update!

Sorry it's taken such a long time to send an update -- but we've
been working through the system to see if the administration
could get something in place for the 2007/2008 school year.

We've tried to move forward on both a stand alone team and
(a more viable option) a coop team but to date have made little progress.

GTACS administration has approached various local schools about cooping and not
received positive feedback -- and has to date declined to approach TC Christian
about working with their existing boys team to put together a coop team much as
the girls currently enjoy.

With a deadline of April 15th for coop requests to be filed with the state high
school athletics organization (MHSAA) it appears that we've run out of time.

Should anything change, or the administration have a change of heart about
finding a solution that will allow their students to enjoy the benefits of
competing with fellow students on the soccer pitch, I'll be sure to let you
know.

Thank you very much for your earlier expression of support and your continued
interest in establishing a program for those boys who want to play an
alternative fall sport.

I'd welcome any comments or suggestions -- and thanks again.

Results to Date

Running at 75% approval -- with 20% response rate. Pretty good for an unexpected survey if you ask me (and since this is my blog I can ask myself that question!)

I'm putting this blog together to keep those folks interested in starting a soccer program at St. Francis a forum for expressing their views and leaving helpful suggestions at all hours of the day and night. Please feel free to publish here and thanks for the support!
